Urban Solidarity Farms: Supporting Food Banks Through Urban Agriculture

How our solidarity program is fighting food insecurity through urban farming.

Urban Solidarity Farms: A Beacon of Hope for Food Insecurity

At Urban Solidarity Farms, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy produce regardless of their socio-economic status. That's why our solidarity program is dedicated to supporting local food banks through urban agriculture.

Through a unique partnership model, we work closely with food banks to identify areas of need and develop tailored solutions for each community. Our team of experienced farmers and educators then provide training and support to help food bank staff establish their own urban farms.

Our Real Estate Partners

We're proud to partner with leading real estate organizations including Complexe Desjardins, Manulife, Bentall Green Oak, Industrial Alliance, Intact Insurance, GWLRA, First Capital REIT, CAPREIT, Govan Brown, Allied Properties REIT, Northam Real Estate, Triovest, InterRent REIT, Starlight Properties, Crown Management, QuadReal, Warrington PCI Management, DECIEM, and Hines.

Food Banks and Community Organizations

Our produce supports vital community organizations including L'Accueil Bonneau, Dans la rue, Le Chaînon, Second Harvest, St. Felix Centre, The Lighthouse, The Daily Bread Food Bank, Sistering, and Food Stash.

The Benefits of Urban Solidarity Farms

By supporting local food banks through urban agriculture, we're not only providing fresh produce to those who need it most – we're also creating jobs, stimulating economic growth, and building stronger, more resilient communities. Our program has already made a significant impact in several cities across the country.

One of the key benefits of our solidarity program is its ability to address food insecurity at the local level. By working directly with food banks and community organizations, we're able to respond quickly to changing needs and ensure that fresh produce is getting to those who need it most.

Sustainability and Community Engagement

At Urban Solidarity Farms, we're committed to sustainability in every aspect of our operations. From using rainwater harvesting systems to reduce water waste, to incorporating composting programs to minimize food waste, we're constantly looking for ways to improve our environmental footprint.

But it's not just about the environment – it's also about building strong relationships with the communities we serve. Through regular workshops and training sessions, we empower community members to take ownership of their urban farms and develop the skills they need to succeed.
